My Least Favorite Trope (and this post will include spoilers for The Lego Movie, Guardians of the Galaxy, The Matrix, Western Civilization, and—cod help me—Bulletproof Monk*.) is the thing where there’s an awesome, smart, wonderful, powerful female character who by all rights ought to be the Chosen One and the hero of the movie, who is tasked with taking care of some generally ineffectual male character who is, for reasons of wish fulfillment, actually the person the film focuses on. She mentors him, she teaches him, and she inevitably becomes his girlfriend… and he gets the job she wanted: he gets to be the Chosen One even though she’s obviously far more qualified. And all he has to do to get it and deserve it is Man Up and Take Responsibility.

And that’s it. Every god-damned time. The mere fact of naming the films above and naming the trope gives away the entire plot and character arc of every single movie.

tbh this is kinda why I didn’t love The Lego Movie quite as much as I felt like everybody else did (though maybe that’s just my imagination.) It was a lot of fun, definitely yes, but I could watch this trope happening basically from the moment she stepped onscreen and it was so irritating.

Bleh. Such a tiring trope.

Forget the spreadsheet, here’s an easy flowchart to know if a women owes you sex

Microsoft Excel took a turn for the explicit this week when the Internet learned the once-innocuous office tool was being used in a dispiriting new bro-trend: using the software to track of the number of times their partners refuse sex. Yes, #sexspreadsheets are a thing, presumably because some men still believe that owning of a penis entitles them to unlimited sexy times.
Sorry, guys, that’s just not the way the world works | Follow micdotcom

This chart works works really well for everyone, regardless of the gender of the person you’re dating/interested in/hooking up with

“This isn’t your typical love story…” opens the trailer for a movie about a white, heterosexual, cisgender, able-bodied, middle class, and likely loosely Christian couple who find each other through serendipity and a very small amount of actual work.

an updated commission sheet for 2014~ this time with lower prices. these are all for one character, fullbody with no/simple background, other types of work is negotiable.
e-mail me at zcoughart@gmail.com if you’re interested!

Hey everyone. My family recently moved to Texas and started a new business. Unfortunately, it’s going to be a few weeks until we get the licensing and authorization required to operate in the state, so at the moment we are all basically unemployed.
We have enough saved to get by for a little while, but I would like to be able to register for the Staple! Independent Media Expo here in Austin, which requires money for the table, printing, etc.
I’m still posting regularly on Patreon, but I haven’t gotten any commissions lately. So from now until… Sometimes in the future, I guess, any commission will get an additional sketch added on to it as a bonus. Even the sketch level! So it’s basically buy one, get one. Please consider buying something and supporting me!
